Thanks to our many partners, the scope of our environmental protection work includes planning, source water protection, tackling flooding and erosion problems and researching water movement and use in the valley. We help people maintain healthy shorelines, provide advice on development-related issues and report to municipalities, agencies and the public about watershed conditions and trends. We also provide public access to natural waterfront areas, deliver community-based stewardship programs, reduce water pollution and protect fish and wildlife habitat.

Reporting to the Senior Water Resources Engineer, the Water Resources Engineer carries out a wide range of professional engineering activities in the general area of water resources engineering in a watershed management context. The focus is on stormwater management; watershed hydrology; floodplain management; numerical modeling; and regulatory review.

You will undertake regulatory reviews of designs and technical reports and conduct floodplain mapping projects. You will also assist in building and maintaining watershed models, conduct hydrological and hydraulic analysis and participate in hydrometric monitoring in order to assess watershed conditions. You will be required to write technical memos and reports, make presentations and occasionally present technical evidence at hearings.

Qualifications:

As the ideal candidate, you must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Water Resources, Civil Engineering or a related field. It is mandatory that you be certified as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario. You have a minimum of five years professional experience in water resources engineering with an emphasis in stormwater management and watershed hydrology and you have a thorough knowledge of hydrological and stormwater models. You have demonstrated technical writing skills and excellent communication skills in English. A valid Class G driver’s license is mandatory.
