All academic disciplines are welcome and no formal teaching experience or certification is required; we would love to hear from you! Our community is comprised of various cultural and academic backgrounds, all dedicated to sharing their knowledge and interests with the younger generation. You’ll educate diverse groups of kids while living with terrific staff, creating memories that last forever.


Nature’s Classroom has been recognized for excellence by the National Science Teachers Association, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and the State of Connecticut. As the premiere residential environmental education program in the northeast, over 450 schools make Nature’s Classroom an integral part of their academic experience. In 44 years of programing, nearly one million students have come to us to learn and grow. 



Connecticut: Andover, Colebrook, Ivoryton, Lakeside

Massachusetts: Becket, Charlton, Groton, Yarmouthport

Maine: Ocean Park

New Hampshire: Freedom, Hancock

New York: Silver Bay

Rhode Island: Wakefield

Responsibilities and Duties:

- Group leader and teacher in 5-day residential program

- Develop and present classes in a variety of academic areas

- Special projects and light maintenance of the facility

- Evening activities and mealtime duties


Qualifications and Skills:

- Bachelor's degree (paid internships available for those without a degree)

- Strong commitment to educate children

- Special skills (music, singing, storytelling) helpful

- Energetic, dedicated & able to become involved in all aspects of the program

- Experience working with children desired


- $210 to $350 per week based on education and experience

- Room and board 7 days a week

- The opportunity to educate in an informal setting at a 1 to 12 ratio

- A supportive organization that is willing to help you develop professionally

- Freedom to explore new areas for classes and programs

- No weekend duties

- A chance to open your own site in association with Nature's Classroom


Spring semester runs from mid-March to early-June Fall semester runs from Labor Day to mid-December (exact dates vary by facility).
